Earn Academic Credit with LMU Extension: Teaching Children's Yoga (8-Week Course)

Receive semester hours upon completion of our online children's yoga teacher training course.

This course gives you the skills and confidence to learn how to teach yoga and mindfulness to children ages 3 to 12.

Through this eight-week course, you will learn the theory and science behind the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social benefits of yoga for children.

You will gain the confidence to lesson plan for your students through ample opportunities to embody and practice teach yoga breathing, postures, games, and relaxation exercises throughout the course.

Upon completion of our course, you will be fully equipped with the knowledge and tools to help children build a lifetime of health and wellness through yoga and mindfulness practices.

How It Works

Flexible course structure to meet your schedule demands.

  • This course takes place over eight weeks.
  • Each week includes 2-6 hours of course material (module).
  • Modules include video lectures, live check ins, interactive exercises, downloadable lesson plans, reflection questions, quizzes, and key teaching points for each grade group.
  • Upon completion of this course, you will be eligible to receive 3.5 semester hours with LMU Extension. To receive your semester hours, you must complete the following steps:
    1. Complete the LMU course registration form by the course start date. The form will be available to you upon registration.
    2. Complete your online children's yoga teacher training.
    3. Satisfy all course requirements for a certificate of completion: watch course videos, score a cumulative 80% or higher on quizzes, and complete your final project by two weeks after the course end date.

In a new, self-paced format, this training allows you to learn at your own pace and repeat lectures and practices as often as you’d like!

A pioneer of yoga education in Hawaii, Brynne is also the founder of Stretch Your Imagination, a non-profit that creates sustainable yoga programs for Hawaii’s schools. With a BA in Theatre Arts, MFA in Dance, 200hr RYT, and K-5 YogaEd certification, Harmony has immersed herself in the realm of teaching. Having worked for many diverse and influential organizations, Harmony has now founded her own dance, yoga, and education company: HarmsaStar. What if I miss the weekly check-ins? Will I miss the bulk of this course?
No; one of the best parts about this course is that its designed for you to go-at-your-own-pace :) All of the calls will be recorded so that you can listen in as your schedule allows.
What do I have to do in order to get a certificate of completion?
Simply watch course videos, score a cumulative 80% or higher on all corresponding quizzes, and complete your final teaching project. All course work must be completed and submitted by two weeks after the end date of the course. Your certificate of completion will be mailed to you one month after the end date of the course.
Does this qualify for credits?
Yes, this course qualifies for the following credits: + 32 hours continuing education units with the Yoga Alliance + 3.5 semester credits with LMU Extension.
